Hempel Glasmuseum fulfills the vision of being a significant cultural-historical glass museum and a vibrant cultural hub in Odsherred

Hempel Glass Museum 2027

New and Improved Spaces

A new roof, enhancing both the architecture and the overall spatial experience, creates visual harmony with the main building, while the addition of heating enabling the museum to stay open for more of the year.
The new roof, allows significantly larger and more frequent special exhibitions and cultural events.
The museum entrance will be relocated, offering a direct view of the Isefjord. From there, visitors will have immediate access to the entrance hall, shop, family workshop, and café.
Accessibility throughout the museum will be improved.
A brand-new café will serve delicious food and drinks — all with uninterrupted views of the Isefjord.

The Hempel Foundation

A generous donation from the Hempel Foundation, established by J.C. Hempel in 1948, has made the ambitious renovation and upgrade of the museum buildings possible.

Hempel’s Cultural Foundation

When Hempel Glass Museum (then known as Anneberg Samlingerne) was established in 1964, J.C. Hempel founded a new organisation, Hempel’s Cultural Foundation, and donated his glass collection to the newly created foundation. The foundation was tasked with overseeing the construction and operation of the museum—responsibilities it still holds today.

Board members:
Thomas C. Thulstrup (Chair)
Dagmar Brendstrup (Vice Chair)
Birgitte Snabe (also a member of the Hempel Foundation)
