EKSHIBITION 2022 “NOVUM VITRUM – a roman echo”
Special Exhibition at Hempel Glass Museum April 30-October 23 2022
NOVUM VITRUM – a roman echo
Morten Klitgaard is fascinated and inspired by the patina of ancient glass in surfaces and colors.
The exhibition shows a series of glassworks in dialogue with selected ancient glass from Hempel’s Glass Collection.
The colors or pearlescent glow of ancient glasses are due to iridescence, which are changes in the surface of the glass when the substance of the glass comes into contact with carbon dioxide in the air.
With an intuitive responsivness to the spontaneous and to glass’ own nature and beauty, Morten Klitgaard’s works sound like echoes of what intentionally or unintentionally characterizes the Roman glassworks.
Morten Klitgaard’s glassworks combine the retrospective with the prospective, and fascinate with a natural beauty and surprising presence.
