Hempel Glass Award

In addition to running the museum, the Hempel Cultural Foundation annually awards the Hempel Glass Award to a glass artist working in Denmark who has distinguished themselves by pushing the boundaries of the material.
The Glass Award was established in 1988 in memory of the museum’s founder, J.C. Hempel (1894–1986).
The recipient of the award presents a solo exhibition at the museum the following year, and the museum acquires a work for its contemporary collection.
