Shop, Café and Family activities

SHOP – TAKE THE EXPERIENCE HOME
The museum shop will be part of the new foyer.
Here you will find Denmark’s finest glass artists, design and crafts from both home and abroad, books and games for children about glass and nature, posters, and much more.
The shop will offer both permanent items and seasonal products related to the year’s special exhibitions.
It will also be possible to find gourmet treats from the sweet kitchen, as well as drinks and ice cream for a little break.
FAMILY WORKSHOP
Through play and sensory experiences, families—and especially children—are invited to develop an understanding of glass: both as a material and its cultural significance.
This will take place through creative activities in a new workshop located in the foyer, a dedicated educational trail within the exhibitions, and larger events and activities during school holidays.
SCHOOLS
The activities and areas aimed at families with children will also be adapted for school classes with relevant educational programmes.
In addition, dedicated learning courses on glass, art, or wild nature will be offered.
IN THE HEART OF NATURE
Hempel Glass Museum is set in beautiful natural surroundings with a stunning view over the Isefjord, connecting the museum experience to the nature and cultural history of Odsherred.
The landscape also provides a natural outdoor gathering space—perfect for activities and social interaction—which supports the museum’s mission and programming.
In 2021, a large part of the nearly 8-hectare lawn in front of the museum was transformed into wild nature as a contribution to increasing biodiversity. This has become a distinctive feature of the museum, which has, among other things, been named a Butterfly Partner by the Danish Society for Nature Conservation in recognition of this effort.
Nature also plays a central role in the placement of the new café, which will offer beautiful views both from inside and from the terraced seating that follows the contours of the landscape.
