HEMPELS GLASPRIS 2019 TORA URUP
Hempels Glaspris tildeles i år glaskunstneren Tora Urup (1960), som har sit studio i København. Tora Urup er uddannet på Danmarks Designskole med supplerende studier i Tokoname, Japan og Royal College of Art i London. Hun har i en periode haft et nært samarbejde med Holmegaard og Den Kgl. Porcelænsfabrik og har siden 2001 haft eget værksted, hvorfra hun udfolder sine fascinerende unikke arbejder og mindre serier af brugsting.
I forbindelse med Hempels Glaspris, som siden 1984 årligt er uddelt til en dansk glaskunster, udstiller Tora Urup i Hempel Glasmuseum et smukt udvalg af sin glaskunst, som er internationalt berømmet, og som sjældent kan opleves i Danmark. Det er en enestående mulighed for at se disse arbejder, hvis udgangspunkt er en visuel illusionistisk leg med skålformer i cylindriske glasblokke i et betagende farvespil.
